Around the World in 72 Days – Destinations revealed

My fellow wanderlusters, travellers, lovers of the unknown and adventurers!

Today I want to share with you my trip itinerary that I kept a secret – until now. It’s time to share the destinations with you and also some of the things I plan on doing:

The ultimate RTW-itinerary for 2.5 months

The first spot I’m going to visit is …. *drum roll* … the crazy city of DUBAI!!!

I’ll spend three entire days in the United Arab Emirates and I’m really looking forward to a great time there! The heat will beat me a little bit, but I’ve heard about the indoor skiing hall and I’m keen on trying this!

After the UAE it will take me southeast to Tanzania where I will join a budget camping safari trip to explore famous Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater! After that I will be taking a bus to Kenya where I’ll stay for roughly a week and explore Nairobi and its outskirts!

My RTW continues in New Delhi, India! I still have no idea what I’ll be visiting there, but I’m really looking forward to it. Although I have some mixed feelings about travelling there, but then I’ve heard so many beautiful stories about this subcontinent!

Then a short 3-day-layover in Singapore, where I’ll explore the city and stay in a capsule hostel for the first time in my life.

A highlight will also be Bali – a place that I have been dreaming to visit since I read the book ‘Eat, Pray, Love’! One week on this island to get to know the locals, other travellers and simply have a good time, maybe I’ll get to dive a bit as well.

Afterwards New Zealand will be my next stop and some cooler weather will be my travel buddy. I’m planning on getting a rental car and explore the northern island on my own. Some thrilling experiences are on my list!

Down under aka. Australia will get a short visit too. I haven’t really decided where to go yet, but the desire to see and dive the Great Barrier Reef will probably win over a trip to Ayers Rock.

A rather long flight over the pacific will get me to California, where I’ll meet up with a friend who I met in Venezuela six years ago! A lil’ road trip from San Francisco to Yosemite National Park and Los Angeles are on the list!

Two nights, one full day: Mexico, I’ll be back! Eating Quesadillas, walking around one of my favourite cities in the world – Mexico City – and simply enjoying a great day back home.

The next stop will be the one that I’m looking forward to the most: Cuba! The old city of Havana, some nice day trips around the island with this unique flair and atmosphere and of course the old cars! Oh, I wish I was there already!

Same as last year I’ll spend some time in New York City, where I’ll also meet a dear, dear, dear friend from Canada, who I met diving last summer in Mexico. This will be a great time to say goodbye to the Americas before I head back to Europe!

Last, but not least – and not confirmed yet: Norway! This very last stop will depend on my budget and if there is a chance to get some rather cheap flights and well, we’ll see how it goes!

Do you have any last minute tips for me? Anything you would like me to know? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below! I’m looking forward to reading them!

Keep on travelling,

Viktoria Urbanek Travel Blog Chronic Wanderlust

Grüß dich, I'm Viki!

At Chronic Wanderlust, I write about my two great passions: travelling and diving – and have been doing so since 2013.

I usually spend a solid majority of the year travelling to experience extraordinary underwater adventures, taking road trips through countries I don’t know (yet) or exploring my home country of Austria.

As a certified divemaster, passionate underwater & travel photographer, road trip enthusiast and individual traveller, I collect unique moments all over the world.

I don’t believe that severe cases of wanderlust – aka chronic wanderlust – can be cured, only treated. On this blog, I want to show you how this can best be realised.
