Mini-holiday at the Tauern Spa

Content

I spent a couple of days in Tauern Spa – and this is how wonderful it was

Barely a month ago I boarded a plane in Edmonton and flew home after exactly eight months of living abroad. Eight months seemed like an eternity in the beginning, and I also struggled with myself, whether or not I made the right decision. I am still a little torn whether a semester at an university in Europe would have been sufficient too. On the other hand, I enjoyed my travels and diving very much. What’s done is done though.

In any case, I am back home in beautiful Austria and could not be happier. I missed the mountains, the green meadows and the lakes and also the everyday life more than I thought. I didn’t spend a lot of time in Linz before heading to Salzburg though. A mini-holiday with my boyfriend to the famous Tauern Spa was planned!

Tauern Spa – total relaxation please

It’s a two and a half hour drive from Linz to the Tauern Spa in Zell am See – Kaprun. We left home early so we wouldn’t miss a moment of relaxation.

Our room wasn’t ready for checkin when we got there which wasn’t a problem at all. We left our belongings in lockers downstairs, and made our way to the top floor -dressed in the most comfy white bathrobes. We, of course, had to test the warm water immediately – we jumped into the pool and all we could see was lush green fields everywhere.

The most beautiful pool in the world…

… is the roof top pool (aka Infinity Pool) at the Tauern Spa – which can only be used by hotel guests or guests who bought the day pass De Luxe.  You can admire the mighty Kitzsteinhorn with its snow-covered slopes on clear days but the pool is still great even if the sky is grey 🙂

In the three days we spent here, we spent most of the time in the spa area of the Hotel Panorama. The snack bar with hot tea, nuts, dried apples, crispbread with melted cheese (definitely my favourite), pumpkin seeds and various juices was just too tempting to leave for long.

Birthday celebrations at Tauern Spa

I had planned this mini-holiday around my boyfriends birthday since we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together so far this year. I wanted him to myself for a couple of days.

See how you always get asked to show your ID at checkin? We were still surprised they had picked up on my boyfriends birthday and lovingly decorated our breakfast table. We had just finished our first round at the very impressive breakfast buffet when waiters showed up with sparkling wine and a chocolate cake with candles. They congratulated him and my guy was speechless for quite a few moments!

Private spa time

A birthday has to be celebrated in style and that is just what we did! We chose the day package De Luxe, and even though I am not super expierenced with spas in Austria, I was really impressed by this spa. It is definitely top notch.

Before we were asked in the treatment room, the door was open and I just had to take a peak. An oasis of peace and relaxation lay in front of me! I saw two massage beds, one big bath, a sauna in one corner and a water bed in the other.

For a good thirty minutes, we enjoyed relaxing back massages next to each other, afterwards we hopped into the sauna and turned our inner weld on. We took a dip in the tub to cool down but the water was too warm 😉 so we nibbled fresh fruit and sipped sparkling wine while enjoying the hot tub.

We spent two hours in the private spa – but luckily it felt a lot longer #extremelyrelaxed

Viktoria Urbanek Travel Blog Chronic Wanderlust

Grüß dich, I'm Viki!

At Chronic Wanderlust, I write about my two great passions: travelling and diving – and have been doing so since 2013.

I usually spend a solid majority of the year travelling to experience extraordinary underwater adventures, taking road trips through countries I don’t know (yet) or exploring my home country of Austria.

As a certified divemaster, passionate underwater & travel photographer, road trip enthusiast and individual traveller, I collect unique moments all over the world.

I don’t believe that severe cases of wanderlust – aka chronic wanderlust – can be cured, only treated. On this blog, I want to show you how this can best be realised.
