Diving

Former mermaid, now Divemaster!

Here’s the place where you’ll find dive spot guides, equipment reviews and everything wonderful diving!

I started my dive love story in 2010 – within a year I got certified as an Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver in Venezuela. 2014 I continued this liaison in Playa del Carmen, Mexico where I did my Divemaster training and also got my Nitrox certification. I’ve also worked as a dive guide on Cozumel for a couple of weeks – one of the best times!

Let’s dive the MUSA Underwater Museum Isla Mujeres with Carey Diving

by

A few years ago I first heard of MUSA – the Museo Subacuatico de Arte. Ever since I wanted to dive there and see it all for myself. This Underwater Museum was built aka sunk back in 2009. It’s not even the only one in the world – there’re others in the Caribbean and other places too, where you can find many sunken treasures. Let’s jump in – MUSA Isla…

Cozumel Diving

Don’t dive in Cozumel

by

There’s this little island. It belongs to Mexico and some of you might have heard about it. Many cruise ships (eewwww!) stop here. Others may know it because the diving is supposed to be “oh so spectacular”. Here is why you should never, and I mean never ever, dive in Cozumel: The reefs are ugly and there are hardly any fish left in the sea Turtles, colourful corals, two meter…

How much are 4 days on San Andrés including Diving? I love lists and breaking down costs – so that’s why I wrote down everything I spent during my 4-day-trip to San Andrés in Colombia. I’ve also gathered a lot of recommendations for you here as well. Itinerary for 4 days on San Andrés Day 0: arriving in San Andrés late night, after a flight from Bogotá (approx. 2 hours flight time)…

San Andrés Travel Tips – a Paradise for Divers with Perils

San Andrés Travel Tips – a Paradise for Divers with Perils A two-hour flight from Bogotá, off the Nicaraguan coast, is a little island paradise – or at least that’s what I was promised by many Colombians and Google image search. It is a paradise for divers, but the rest of the island did not impress me at all. If anything, it got me thinking… I flew with Viva Colombia and landed…

Turtles Akumal

Snorkel with Turtles in Akumal

by

Snorkelling with Turtles in Akumal There’s this small village in Mexico. It has a lovely small bay where many, many turtles live. The best part: you can snorkel with them! I’ve heard about Akumal a couple of years ago, and I knew that I had to go there myself. It took a while to fulfil this wish – and I kind of wish I had come here earlier. We started…

Cenote Diving – Best moment of Summer 2014

by

Cenotes: underground cave and cavern systems in Yucatán I got into diving in 2010. My mum had told me to go and try it, because she used to dive a lot during our holidays in Turkey. I’ve never given it much thought. “It’s another world down there” is what I’ve heard people saying about it. While being on exchange in Venezuela I got certified and kept going with the courses…
